Periodic trends — electronegativity, atomic radius, ionisation
Interactive visualisation of trends by period and group: Pauling electronegativity, atomic radius, ionisation energy, density, melting and boiling points. 118 elements compared. Hover to see values, click to open an element page.
How to read these curves
Points are coloured by period. A well-understood metric should reveal clear patterns: electronegativity typically increases along a period and decreases down a group; atomic radii follow the opposite trend; ionisation energies show 'steps' at each shell or subshell closure. Missing points correspond to unmeasured values (mainly transactinides).
